Lewis was an enthusiastic advocate for Portland's Singing Christmas Tree. Wherever he went, he would ask, "Have you ever seen the Tree?" He would then go on to convince the person why he or she needed to attend. Because of his personal invitation, many of you now begin your Christmas season by attending the Tree. Sadly, Lewis passed away May of 2006, but his generosity and belief in the Tree lives on. Through a special gift from his estate, the Lewis A. Ide Legacy Society was created. Its purpose is to help ensure the future of the Tree.

Support a Portland Tradition, Become a Light of the Tree
Portland's Singing Christmas Tree adorns the Keller Auditorium with over 30,000 lights that dance, twinkle, sparkle, and shine, bringing the magic of the Tree's full-stage Christmas production to life. But did you know that you can also be a special light in our Tree?
Why buy a light?
Sales of tickets only cover about 60% of the operating expenses. Bridging the financial gap rests in the hands of generous people who believe in the Tree. Buying a Light of the Tree will ensure our message continues to be a Portland tradition for many years to come.
How do I get my light?
The front section of the orchestra level is reserved for "Light of the Tree" donors. The $60.00 cost includes a $15.00 tax-deductible donation. Each person seated in this section will receive a "light" to shine during several musical numbers during the performance. Center Boxes 7 & 8 will also be reserved for "Light of the Tree" donors. The $75.00 cost includes a $15.00 tax-deductible donation.
Can anyone else buy a light?
Yes! You may choose to purchase seats anywhere in the auditorium and be a "Light of the Tree" by making a $15.00 donation in addition to the price of the seat. By making the donation you receive your own "light" to use during the "Light of the Tree" musical pieces.
